Creating the right impression

Many companies forget how important it is to create a positive initial impression. When you are tied up thinking about cash flow projections and business plans, the overall image of your company can take a backseat. Over the years we have seen some very poor websites and logos that look like they were sketched on the back of cigarette packets. Now answer this question truthfully. Would you turn up to a job interview with muddy shoes and a creased shirt? Of course not!

As a business start up when you present a poor image to your potential customers then you have missed the opportunity to make a good impression. Worse still, in some cases, you are even creating a negative impression. It is already hard enough to make a sale without having your potential client wondering if your company is legitimate or professional. Rightly or wrongly, when presented with a professional business card people will pay you and your company more respect. First impressions really do count no matter what some people say.

At the very least a professional company image will put you on a par with your competitors. This then gives you the opportunity to persuade customers that your products/services are worth investing in. If you are better presented than the majority of your competition then this can act as a plus point in your favour.

In a marginal situation getting your overall business image right could be the difference between making or not making the sale. If you want your new business to succeed then give it every chance of success, get your image right on day one and then you have one less thing to hold you back.
