Art Clay Silver 950 - Sterling Silver Clay - 50g
Art Clay Silver 950 is a Silver Clay composed of 95% Silver and 5% Copper, providing a purity after firing of 950 (925 Sterling Silver.) Once fired it provides an extra hard quality and can be kiln fired on an open shelf, without the need for activated carbon.
Art Clay Silver 950, is an enriched sterling silver clay, which has a smooth, creamy consistency, very similar to the normal Art Clay Silver New Formula. It comes ready mixed, no need to measure powders or mix two seperate clays and it does not require carbon for firing. This Sterling Silver Clay is extremely versatilte and easy to use. Simply open a packet and start creating!

Firing Instructions: How to Fire Art Clay Silver 950 (Sterling Silver Clay)
- Art Clay Silver 950 Must be fired in a kiln. (Not suitable for blow torch or gas hob firing)
- Art Clay Silver 950 can be fired without requiring carbon firing
- Mould and dry as usual
- Put your piece in a room temperature kiln
- Fire to 500°C (932°F) and hold for 30 mins (this first step burns off the binder)
- Set the kiln temp to 870°C (1598°F), and hold it at 870°C for 60 mins. (This final firing sinters the metal particles)
- Turn off the kiln and wait until the kiln temperature drops to 200°C (392°F)
- Take the piece out and wait until the piece cools down completely or leave it until the kiln drops to room temperature
- This product is not suitable for gas stove or torch firing.
The Kiln can heat up at full speed and doesn't need to cool off between the two stages. Avoid moving the piece after the first firing segment, as it will be fragile before the sintering stage.
Shrinkage:
Art Clay Silver 950 shrinks at about 10-13% (slightly more than regular Art Clay Silver, which shrinks at about 8-10%) therefore, please account for this when making rings. View our online Course on ring making course with Art Clay Silver 950 here.
Storage:
Keep away from sun and heat. Once opened, store in a fridge, tightly wrapped in cling film, in a sealed container.
